EXCLUSIVE: Sneak preview of what took place when Jay interviewed Tempo.

Tempo had to do an interview with Jay based on his career and without giving too much away, here’s a snip from their conversation…

Jay: How did you start doing what you’re currently doing and from where you currently, are you winning or have you won?

Tempo: [laughs and tones down] Well, Last year, This time, there was a lot of frustration and stress amongst my LOT(life of tempo) niggas and family members as I was doing my last year in high-school and I was already making plans to grow as an artist, as an entertainer. I started from doing community centre shows in White City, Pimville, Naledi and all around Soweto, dancing and emcee’ing wherever I possibly could, the main mission was to gain exposure and not fame, bare in mind that there’s a big diff yeah [laughs]. I settled for whatever I got but I was never satisfied as I was always hungry for more, for example, if I was a performer, I’d work my way to directing, then once I got into directing, I’d gunn down being my own producer, not to really be selfish or anything but to just contribute to the powerhouse brand that I’m building which is LOT. I’m winning in terms of pushing my concepts but even after two hundred medals, awards or million rands made, I’ll still feel like there’s more to be done, although I appreciate everything that’s happened and those people that take their own money to buy tickets and attend events that have me showcasing my talent.”

How was the experience?
“It was great participating in the 48 hour film. My crew struggled a bit within the first twenty-four hours but we winged in the hard work and all I can do now is hope that those in post made a great movie with the footage we shot.”

How was being a production designer?
“I honestly enjoyed it but my life is in front of the camera and not behind it. [Lol]
But having said that, I wouldn’t mind having my own pd company”
